Now we have “atheist Muslims.” This was the inevitable result of our acceptance of the notion of being Muslim as a race. We have to reconsider this instead of uncritically adopting whatever discourse serves our worldly interests. If someone attacks Muslims for what they believe, we should oppose that on the basis of our own moral compass, not on the basis of a vague liberal postmodern conception of racism.

And yes, in Islam we do oppose discrimination on the basis of skin color, tribal affiliation, and other similar distinctions, all of which fall under the reprehensible ignorance known as asabiyya. But asabiyya does not equal postmodern racism.

Will elaborate when I have more time inshaAllah.
