Is it a coincidence that modern “spirituality” and liberal humanist appreciation for religion gravitates toward paganism? How did the rituals of organized, traditional Abrahamic faiths become associated with oppressive authority, control, and subjugation while paganistic rituals of any of a number of “new-age” religions are associated with free-spiritedness, enlightenment, and transcendence?

  • I ventured the opposite way. Taught among Pagans. . .then really moved toward Humanism. Paganism carries forward (or backward) a super-natural theism (often polytheism, sometimes pantheism) while the Humanistic path has no need or time for theistic beliefs.
