38% of the Harvard freshmen class this year identifies as atheist or agnostic. Only 34% identify as Christian. 10% Jewish and 3% Muslim. The atheist/agnostic segment has steadily increased every year.
When I was a college student there, the lack of interest in organized religion was very apparent, but at least people still believed in God. Now, forget about organized religion. Nearly 2 out of 5 students don’t believe in God at all or have serious doubts about His existence.
What is causing this slide into disbelief for so many in the younger generations? Virtually everyone has at least one family member or personal acquaintance that has lost faith and consciously rejected God. What is the root of this alarming trend?
