I sympathize with Christian parents who protest their kids learning about Islam in school, in a sense. It is natural to want to protect your children from ideas you deem dangerous and all parents do this in one form or another.

And it is some of these same feelings that make my wife and I insist on not sending our kids to public school. Except we’re not worried about our kids learning about Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, etc. We’re worried about everything else that children are exposed to, i.e., the true religion of the modern liberal secular world that saturates the very air you breath.

That is the true danger posed to all those who believe in organized, traditional religion, Muslim and Christian alike. And even then, we do want our kids to learn about liberal secularism and other modern progressivist ideologies, but on our own terms, not in the highly biased, propagandistic environment of government facilitated institutionalized learning, where these ideologies are taken for granted.

In 10 to 20 years, when these Christian children grow up and abandon all vestiges of their faith because they find organized religion outdated, backwards, useless, etc., I hope these anti-Muslim Christians look back and realize their folly, distracted by Islam while, behind their backs, the fire of secular modernity consumed their families.

  • A secular-progressive teacher put this Islamic information forth to her students in an improper manner. Secularism removed Judaism and Christianity from schools basing it on offending the children and parents of atheists, the same atheists who are running the schools and school boards. How did Islam become so important to the school curriculum when atheists hate religion and God? My country is just as diverse as the USA and we were the first, my city and province, to have a school solely for Muslim children and with Muslim teachers. The sad part of this is that it’s our tax dollars that are used to promote religion in school, when religion isn’t supposed to be promoted in school. If Muslims want their faith in schools then they can promote Private Schools for their kids and pay for them out of their pocket. No other religion has been given this privilege anywhere in the West except Islam. This is not about Islamophobia: “This loathsome term is nothing more than a thought-terminating cliche conceived in the bowels of Muslim Think Tanks for the purpose of beating down critics.” Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, former US Muslim Brotherhood member. But, we should be asking the principal, teacher or school board why they are teaching Islam in schools when religions aren’t supposed to be taught in schools? Now I can see Islamic, Jewish and Christian history taught in schools, but not the religion. And the Islamic religion is what the teacher was teaching due to the materials she was using, and for a secular teacher in a secular school that’s offensive by the secularist idealists who deemed to remove Christian prayers in schools, and now they shovel Islamism on our children and grandchildren. Something of a very serious nature is required to stop this secular charade to parade Islam as a religion of peace. And my words to any school principal, teacher, or school board is before you force feed Islamism on your students you should first “Prove that Islam is a religion of peace?” And then ask parents for their approval of any curriculum on Islam, and stay out of the religion itself. You are not qualified to speak on Islam, Qur’an, Sunnah, or religiosity of the Prophet Muhammad. The Shahada is not to be taken so lightly because it is the profession of the Islamic faith and to take it so lightly is very offensive to a majority of Muslims.
