On 7 October 2021, Shaykh-ul-Islam Muftī Muhammad Taqi ‘Uthmānī delivered a very emotional and passionate plea to hundreds and thousands of people that attended the Khatm-e-Nubuwwah Conference in Multan. His words are, in essence, a reflection of the reality as well as the binding duty upon the Muslim Ummah regarding the burning issue of Qadiyanism. May Allāh Ta’ālā accept from him and grant us the divine ability to study his words carefully, as presented hereunder in English, and then practically implement them. Āmīn
Muftī Taqi’s Speech[After reciting the introductory khutbah, Muftī Muhammad Taqi ‘Uthmānī said,
Assalāmu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullāh wa Barakātuhu,
It is my great fortune and I am indebted to the favor of the hosts who have given me the chance to participate in this noble and blessed gathering of people dedicated to the cause of Khatm-e-Nubuwwah. May Allāh Ta’ālā bless one and all with the best reward in this worldly life and in the afterlife.
This ocean of humanity before me fills the sight with joy and spiritual light. In reality, this is a gathering of people who have great love in their hearts for Sayyidunā Muhammad Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. They have gathered for the sake of safeguarding the honour of Sayyidunā Muhammad Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. They are a people who are ready to sacrifice themselves and everything they have for the sake of protecting the belief of Khatm-e-Nubuwwah. To participate alongside such a gathering and to spend a few moments in their company, I feel is a very great fortune and honour. May Allāh Ta’ālā shower the rains of His mercy upon every single person in this huge gathering, may He grant each person the enthusiasm to sacrifice himself for the love of Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
In a hadith, Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, ‘No one can be a complete and perfect believer until I, i.e., Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam, become more beloved to him than his life, his wealth, his children, and the entire humanity.’ This love is a sign of īmān. This is the foundational requisite of īmān.
The demand of love for Sayyidunā Muhammad Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam is that a person sacrifices himself upon every quality and trait that Allāh Ta’ālā sent him with. One of the great qualities and traits of Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam was that, in comparison to the other messengers, they were sent to a certain nation, a certain tribe, a certain area, but Allāh Ta’ālā announced about Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam that he has been deputed and sent to the entirety of humanity as a bearer of glad-tidings and as a warner. He was not sent to the Arabs only, or the people of Makkah Mukarramah only, or the people of Hijaz only, but he was sent to all of humanity. Part of the purport of humanity is that those who were present in his time, it applies to all those who will come after too. Hence, he is a messenger to all of humanity that will come until the Day of Judgement. The claim of any person who comes after him, of being a Nabī, can never be accepted. Period. This was and can never be accepted to be within the fold of Islām.
Through the grace of Allāh Ta’ālā, the scholars and dā’īs have clarified that whoever claims Nubuwwah after Sayyidunā Muhammad Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam, under whatever pretext, whether zillī or burūzī, no matter what term is used, there can never be any Nabī after him, there can never be any Nabī after him, there can never be any Nabī after him. If anyone makes such a claim, he will be a non-Muslim, a kāfir. He can never ever be accepted to be in the fold of Islām.
By the grace of Allāh Ta’ālā, the scholars have made great effort to have this concept accepted and passed as law. Allāh Ta’ālā has blessed Pakistan especially with the belief of Khatm-e-Nubuwwah being part and parcel of the constitution. However, those who believe and accept Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiyani to be a Nabī or a Masīh or a Mahdī, they go around the world and spread the propaganda that they have been oppressed in Pakistan. They go around proclaiming that they are oppressed and have been excommunicated, whereas their actions are such that – although we have excommunicated them and removed them from the fold of Islām with unanimity – they have excommunicated the entire Muslim Ummah from the very onset and beginning of their Nubuwwah claims.
The Qadiyanis say that whoever does not believe and accept in the Nubuwwah of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiyani, he is out of the fold of Islām. First and foremost, by doing this, they have passed a fatwā of blasphemy on the entire Muslim Ummah. Not only have they passed such a fatwā, they have gone to the extent of saying that whoever will not believe and accept the Nubuwwah of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiyani, he is the child of a bastard.
To say that someone is not a Muslim is not cursing him per se. It is a reflection and display of the reality. However, to say that someone is the child of a bastard, and that too, the entire Muslim Ummah, they have called them (the Muslims) disbelievers and the progeny of bastards. So, are they the oppressors or are we the oppressors? Is the Muslim Ummah oppressed, or is their group oppressed?
The Muslim Ummah is oppressed. The hearts and insides of the Muslim Ummah have been trampled upon by them attacking the honour of Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. As a result, the entire Muslim Ummah has been negatively affected by their oppression and abuse. We do not know how many thorns they have thrown in the path of those who prefer freedom by means of their political plots. They closed doors upon people, created barriers in their way. In reality, they have committed the oppression. The one who said that he came as a Nabī after Muhammad sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam and said that he is a display and image of the final Messenger, he has committed the oppression. We seek the protection of Allāh Ta’ālā from his filth and blasphemy.
Through the grace of Allāh Ta’ālā, we do not oppress anyone. We speak the truth. We announce the truth. There is nothing to be ashamed of in this path. However, together with this, we understand that as a Muslim, as a person who is a diehard for Khatm-e-Nubuwwah, we have been taught that we should sacrifice our lives, wealth and honour, everything, for the sake of safeguarding the honour of Sayyidunā Muhammad Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. At the same time, we have been taught that whoever has gone astray on the basis of misunderstanding or because of being duped, they should be called to the straight path with wisdom and good counsel. If the time for debate comes, then do it in an excellent way.
Therefore, I appeal to you, there is no doubt that those who despite being non-Muslim, deceive and say that they are Muslim, all their activities should be boycotted. This must be done in Pakistan. It is also our duty as a Muslim to call those who have fallen in the trap and propaganda back to the path of Islām with wisdom, good counsel and love. We should turn them into true and proper Muslims.
I appeal to all those in this massive gathering, that whenever you get the chance, or you meet such a person who has fallen into their ways because of misunderstanding, then call him to true Islām. All praise is for Allāh Ta’ālā, the scholars have produced a significant amount of literature. There is no need for further proof. The scholars have given the responses to all their objections with proof. This was all done at the time when this particular matter was being discussed in the National Assembly.
Even before this, hundreds of books have been written on the topic. A Muslim must have knowledge and be aware of all this. I have seen many Mirza’is, although not scholars, they have knowledge of their religion. If they meet a Muslim, they deceive him and try to convert him into their religion and make him a non-Muslim. Each one of us must be ready for this. If Allāh Ta’ālā gives us the chance, we should invite them to Islām.
Secondly, it has been accepted as law in Pakistan, but there are still non-Muslim Qadiyanis holding important posts. Despite this, they have very little chance to deceive people in terms of the constitution. However, when I travel to Europe, I see in Germany, Italy, France and Britain, as well as Australia, New Zealand and Fiji Islands, they have set up propagation centers. They continue preaching there. It is our duty to convey the message of Khatm-e-Nubuwwah to those people in their language, i.e., the people who have fallen into their deception. It should be made clear to them that this, i.e., QADIYANISM, is not Islām. It is actually being treacherous and disloyal to Sayyidunā Muhammad Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. They should be explained to, we have to prepare such literature and dā’īs that will go to these areas and refute the Qadiyanis.
I appeal to you, the Alami Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nubuwwah is a major organization. It has a glorious past. It has made great sacrifices in order to entrench the belief of Khatm-e-Nubuwwah in the hearts of the people. They have lectured and debated and have done great work. As a result, today such a grand and huge gathering has been arranged. I have mentioned to other scholars present that I have attended other gatherings in the past, but I have never seen such a huge and massive gathering before.
This organization has done great work. The Muslims should help them. They should establish branches in every country of the world. Literature in the language of the locals must be prepared. If you will help this organization, Insha Allāh, this organization will be able to reach the far corners of the world.
