Government Issued Crackpipes: Latest Chapter In America’s Shameful Drug History

When you see something as ridiculous as a government spending taxpayer money to provide drug paraphernalia it is easy to be lost in laughter or write it off as just the latest progressive insanity.

That is what conservative publications will undoubtedly do, and they will almost assuredly stop there.

What I hope to do is to show you how this connects to American policy that has been going on since way before the word “progressive” was ever uttered on Fox News.

First we should get the latest news out of the way. Quoting the Washington Free Beacon article that broke the story:

The Biden administration is set to fund the distribution of crack pipes to drug addicts as part of its plan to advance “racial equity.”

The $30 million grant program, which closed applications Monday and will begin in May, will provide funds to non-profits and local governments to help make drug use safer for addicts. Included in the grant, which is overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services, are funds for “smoking kits/supplies.” A spokesman for the agency told the Washington Free Beacon that these kits will provide pipes for users to smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and “any illicit substance.”

HHS said the kits aim to reduce the risk of infection when smoking substances with glass pipes, which can lead to infections through cuts and sores. Applicants for the grants are prioritized if they treat a majority of “underserved communities,” including African Americans and “LGBTQ+ persons,” as established under President Joe Biden’s executive order on “advancing racial equity.”

Interesting to note that it is being tacitly admitted here that “LGBTQ+ persons” have disproportionately high substance abuse problems.

As the HHS’s statement suggests, the African American community is disproportionately affected by the crack epidemic. It is unsurprising that the government is aware of this, since they both profit from it in the form of prison labour and most likely caused it in the first place.

This brings us to CIA and the Contras. Contras being the U.S. backed anti-communist groups in the Nicaraguan Civil War. Illegal CIA funding for these groups were exposed which became the famous Iran-Contra Affair, and these groups were also known to be heavily involved in drug trafficking. Gary Webb’s investigative journalism led to the creation of the famous “Dark Alliance” series, which sparked government investigations into the subject. Of course, as is often the case with the state investigating itself, the state found that it had done nothing illegal.

As a result of the crack epidemic, and the wave of crime and violence that it created, millions of people went through the American prison system, which has a prison labour system that requires, incentivises, and profits from mass incarceration.

Interestingly enough, Joe Biden is famous for his “tough on crime” stance at the time, taking credit for many bills that imposed mandatory minimums for drug offences including possession.

Of course, as Muslims we are in no way permissive of drug usage, but it is undeniable that the crime policies of the 80s and 90s combined with the prison system created a culture of crime and regular incarceration, destroying hundreds of thousands if not millions of black families, the debate on the issue being too large to be handled here.

While it is almost impossible for us to get hands on hard evidence for U.S. Government involvement in the drug trade, we can contrast the Contra allegations with more recent dealings of the U.S. Like the glaring connection between the Invasion of Afghanistan and the opioid epidemic in the U.S.

To start off with, the Invasion of Afghanistan came right after the Taliban banned the production of opium.

The opioid epidemic started in the 90s but took off after the invasion, largely fueled by American drug companies using Afghan opium.

And interestingly enough, the U.S. withdrawal came to the forefront after synthetic opioids (the main one being fentanyl, which is produced mainly in China) largely replaced opium in drug manufacture. Fentanyl, of course, is shaping up to be an even worse epidemic:

We can also note here the extent the U.S. governments will go to prop up the Medical Industrial Complex, which should serve to illuminate our outlook on recent and ongoing events.

The conclusion here is that the federal crack pipe initiative is not mere misguided altruism or compassion, even if it would be really funny to think this was perhaps suggested by Hunter Biden.

Whether it is pacifying millions with opioids and lining the pockets of pharmaceutical companies or dealing illicit drugs to create prison filling social conditions while making CIA untraceable money, the U.S. government and the Military Industrial Complex seems to always be involved in some way.

I don’t understand, isn’t cocaine and meth still illegal, why hand these things openly?even if for profit this seems too overboard

Amr Madden

It Won’t Be illegal for long LOL🤣

What those Highmericans are doing by profiting from drugs while technically criminalizing it in law, is hardly any different from what Muslim skeptic’s favorite regime (Afghanistan) also do (by making drugs haram and officially illegal on paper, while simultaneously smuggling them to ruin the rest of the world for profit). Muslim skeptic is obsessively cheerleading for one while denouncing the other despite both doing the same thing, two sides of one coin.

“Progression” is leading to drug use. Anyone deny using drugs is anti-progressivist! *facepalm*
