Denial of the Aḥādīth Detailing the Emergence of the Mahdī

There are many reports and Aḥādīth detailing the Mahdī and his emergence before the final hour. Based on the level of the reports and narrations, the scholars of Islām have concluded that they reach the grade of Tawātur Ma’nawī, i.e., in terms of the meaning, understanding, and purport, the reports on the Mahdi have been narrated in such huge numbers, that this belief cannot be denied.

Kindly study THE EMERGENCE OF MAHDI by Mufti Maḥmūd Bardolī (which I have translated) for details on this topic. This book is also available in print. The book can be downloaded as a PDF here.

Despite this being the case, we have deviants like Javed Ghamidi, who declare these reports and aḥādīth to be mere tales! He has stated this in no unclear terms here.

In reality, this is a denial of the ṣaḥīḥ (authentic), thābit (affirmed) reports on the topic, which is essentially denial of aḥādīth. In what way does Javed Ghamidi have faith in Rasūlullāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam, if he denies the authentically reported Aḥādīth?

    Javed Ghamidi has also said:

‘The reports on the emergence of the Mahdī do not meet the criteria of the research ḥadīth scholars. Some are ḍa’īf and some are fabricated.’[1]

While there may be some reports which do not make the grade, it does not mean that the entire concept of the Mahdi is a tale, as is claimed by the ḥadīth denier Javed Ghamidi.

What makes matters worse is that Javed Ghamidi, in an amazing display of foolishness goes on to say the following about the ḥadīth on the Mahdī from Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim:

‘It refers to ‘Umar Ibn ‘Abdul ‘Azīz.’[2]

It is interpretations like these, that are made in an attempt to gain a few moments of prominence and fame, which throw the entire ‘Ulamā’ fraternity of the Muslim Ummah under the bus.

On the very same page, Javed Ghamidi also says that there is no need to wait for any Mahdi! How can any Muslim tolerate this kind of falsehood being spread by Javed Ghamidi?

    Denial of Ijmā’ (Consensus)

Ijmā’ is the third most important foundational source of the Islāmic Sharī’ah after the Qur’ān and aḥādīth/sunnah. Javed Ghamidi does not accept Ijmā’ as a proof within the Sharī’ah, but rather declares it an innovation!

RELATED: Javed Ghamidi and the Ḥadīth Rejecter’s Trojan Horse

    He says:

‘When the era of the jurists began, a fourth thing was added. This was the ijmā’, i.e., consensus of the Muslims. After this era until now, it has been widely accepted that Ijmā’ is a source of the Islāmic Sharī’ah, it is a source of the religion. This addition is definitely an innovation. No foundation for it can be sourced in the Qur’ān and the Sunnah.’[3]

This means that according to Javed Ghamidi, all the Muslims everywhere in the world agreed upon innovation for centuries! And Javed Ghamidi has now arrived, as some sort of savior, to establish his own criteria and sources!

May Allāh Ta’ālā protect us from such deviation, lies, and willful misinterpretation of the religion of Islām. Āmīn.
