The Modernists and Zanādiqah (plural of Zindīq, meaning heretic disbeliever) are well known for trying to twist and distort the meanings and purport of the Noble Qur’ān and the Blessed Sunnah in accordance with their whims. They aim to erode the very foundations of Islām.
The natural demand of īmān upon a true believer is that they voice their concerns and make known their uneasiness at such a despicable, unwanted, and unwarranted attempt at deforming the perfect religion of Islām. The true believer will naturally reject outright any false interpretation and conclusion made about Islām.
However, it is cause for great concern and alarm when the Modernists and Zanādiqah make a mockery of Islām; when they bring the name of Allāh Ta’ālā and Sayyidunā Muhammad Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam into disrepute; and when they then make the ridiculous and illogical demand that the servants of Allāh Ta’ālā remain quiet.
They want the true, genuine Muslims to simply cast aside their honor and reverence for Islām? To just quietly sit by while they casually express their contempt for the actual teachings of Islām and strive to disfigure Islām completely?
What greater disregard for the words of Allāh Ta’ālā and Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam can there be than to warp the words and meanings of the sacred texts and to twist them beyond recognition, to satisfy the desires of the carnal self?
In fact, this is nothing short of a brazen attack upon the supreme authority of Allāh Ta’ālā.
Furthermore, these Modernists and Zanādiqah refer to the Blessed Ahādīth as part of a plot and conspiracy, claiming the entire tradition to be something that was brought about much later, long after the time of Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. This ruse is propagated amongst unsuspecting people with little knowledge in order to deceive them into rejecting Ahādīth.
The Modernists and Zanādiqah want Muslims to smile at them and speak to them lovingly despite their insolent attacks against what is most dear to us. However, when these very same Modernists and Zanādiqah are themselves rebuked and condemned by Muslims for their mischief, they cannot bear even the slightest whiff of it.
They harp on about tolerance and respect while they constantly hurl the vilest of abuse against the actual beliefs, laws, and teachings of Islām and, thus, ultimately also against Allāh Ta’ālā and Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Calling this civilized behavior is clearly not justice, and it certainly does not stem from religiosity.
What a strange philosophy the Modernists and Zanādiqah adopted! They are so shamelessly liberal regarding Allāh Ta’ālā and Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam but completely unrelenting regarding themselves! Subhānallāh! What an utterly bizarre mindset!
The demand of ‘hubb fillāh’ (love for the sake of Allāh) and ‘bughd fillāh’ (hatred for the sake of Allāh) is that the matter be dealt with in the completely opposite manner. They should be adopting patience and endurance regarding themselves, while exercising tolerance and forgiveness. Concurrently, they should be expressing unwavering willingness to accept and submit to the commands of Allāh Ta’ālā and Rasūlullāh sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam, without compromise or objection. This is what true īmān demands, and this is the teaching of the Noble Qur’ān and the Blessed Sunnah.
