The tapestry of religious beliefs finds its foundation in the conception of a perfect, all-seeing, all-wise, and omniscient God. From this vantage point, it becomes logical for us to acknowledge God’s care for each and every one of us. Only an atheist, veiled in their own delusional sense of certainty, would deny the attentive nature of an all-wise God and hastily declare their argument to be victorious. Such an impetuous stance, however, completely disregards the very essence of divine perfection.

Were God to be analogous to fallible creatures like ourselves, with our countless imperfections and limited understanding, it would be intelligible for someone to assume His detachment from human affairs. But Allah is not like us in any way whatsoever. He is all-powerful and His knowledge is timeless, perfect and all-encompassing. As such, His perfect consciousness encompasses everything. His absolute knowledge of every occurrence that will ever unfold is flawless and without gaps. His justice is a profound enigma that is incomprehensible and beyond our grasp. Hence, it is only natural—nay, a self-evident and undeniable certainty to believe that God cares deeply for His creation. This conviction stems not from some misguided arrogance but, rather, from simple common sense and elementary logic.

Ironically, this criticism often stems from a contradictory bias. Critics of religion frequently raise the issue of theodicy, i.e., the supposed “problem of evil,” asserting that if there were a God, He should eradicate all suffering and provide everyone with a life of untroubled comfort. Yet, they turn around and admonish believers for their “arrogance” in believing that God cares for them. If someone were to employ this argument, it becomes inherently inconsistent for them to not approach the predicament of evil in a similar manner.

On another note, why should we question Allah’s concern for our existence? Every facet of our reality appears to be meticulously designed, bearing the markings of purpose and intent. As the renowned biologist Richard Dawkins himself acknowledges, the intricacy of creation appears to be a grand design. If God is indeed the architect behind this vast tapestry, meticulously woven together, it would be preposterous to assume that He does not care for His creation. Consider the example of a human parent neglecting their child; we instinctively recognize the fundamental role of a parent as an intrinsic characteristic of our kind. Thus, there is an inherent contradiction in any notion of belief in divine concern being irrational or counterintuitive.

Are Religious People Arrogant?

In addition to this, the prayer rituals undertaken by devout believers stand as a firm testament against arrogance. These rituals serve as a means for believers to exhibit their submission and humility before Allah, acknowledging His greatness and perfection while eschewing any pretense of arrogance.

It is crucial to emphasize here that no religion asserts that God only created humans. Religious beliefs unequivocally affirm that God is the creator of all existence, meaning His care extends to and encompasses every living being, the entire cosmos, and everything beyond.

Many atheists accuse believers of performing good deeds solely out of their own self-interest, driven by the desire to secure themselves a place in paradise. While this claim may hold true for some believers, it is essential to recognize that a true theist, enlightened in their understanding of doctrine and guided by genuine spirituality, is motivated by a profound love for God. Consequently, they strive to act in accordance with the dictates of God because they naturally incline towards them. Hence, these actions, as undertaken by an exemplary theist, stem from a place of love and devotion for God, rather than the mere pursuit of paradise. However, it is worth noting that there is no fault in the prospect of attaining paradise serving as a powerful motivator for a believer.

Yet, it is imperative that a disparity in the treatment of this question be acknowledged. When atheists are pressed on the logical underpinnings for performing good deeds within their worldview, many respond by emphasizing the contribution of such deeds to the stability and preservation of society.

This motivation is often hailed as a fundamental principle of atheistic ethics. Therefore, it is unfair to accuse believers exclusively of harboring selfish motivations while simultaneously disregarding similar inclinations among atheists. Such a double standard fails to grasp the complex reality of human nature.

To fully comprehend the coherence of religious beliefs in relation to divine concern for believers is to unravel a symphony of wisdom. Asserting that God cares for His creation does not arise from arrogance. It arises from logical consistency, rooted in the concept of a perfect God. Moreover, it is crucial to recognize the intricacies in the motivations of both believers and atheists when it comes to performing acts of benevolence.

Criticizing believers alone for their self-interest while overlooking comparable motivations among atheists is an exercise in applying a flawed double standard, which fails to grasp the multifaceted tapestry of human existence.
