It was was painful enough witnessing Douglas Murray accelerating the strange death of journalism with narratives blurring fact and fiction in order to advance the pro-Israel agenda.

But to then see him step in for Piers Morgan on his TalkTV show was absolutely excruciating. It was akin to trading in a worn-out pair of shoes with a big old hole in the bottom for a pair that has Lego blocks glued to their soles—uncomfortable and perplexing. Although Morgan waves the Islamophobe banner, presumably fuelled by the likes of Murray serving him a cornucopia of misinformation on Islam and Muslims, one can begrudgingly acknowledge Morgan’s knack for dishing out selective outrage.

Murray’s attempt at the same, though, has all the finesse and subtlety of a novice mime with overenthusiastic facial expressions. One moment, his eyebrows are sky-high, eyes popping like a surprised owl; the next, they’re on a downward descent, engaged in a squinting session of pseudo-seriousness. It’s a peculiar spectacle that leaves you wondering whether his pro-Israeli benefactors are paying him enough or if they’ve received a bad bargain.

All of this drama was summoned to his face in a “debate” with Harvard Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz on a 900-page unsealed court document from the Jeffrey Epstein case. The segment was titled “Jeffrey Epstein’s Lawyer Alan Dershowitz vs Douglas Murray.”

Epstein’s “Honey-Trap” Racket

According to former Mossad agent Ari Ben-Menashe, Jeffrey Epstein was linked to Israeli intelligence through his long-time girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell. She was convicted of child sex trafficking and procuring girls for Epstein in 2022. Ben-Menashe was a handler for her father, Robert Maxwell, who also worked as an Israeli espionage agent. He further claims that Epstein and Maxwell ran a “honey trap” to lure powerful men by arranging sex with young girls and then blackmailing them with hidden camera videos.

Significantly, Dershowitz was Epstein’s lawyer in 2008. At the time, Epstein was subject to “an FBI probe for allegedly soliciting paid sex from teenaged girls and transporting them across state lines for prostitution and other related offenses.” As the lead negotiator with US Attorney Alexander Acosta, Dershowitz managed to secure a suspicious plea deal that halted not only the federal government’s investigation into Epstein but also his “known and unknown” accomplices. Epstein received a light sentence: an 18-month jail sentence and immunity from future prosecution for offences committed in 2008 or earlier. Acosta reportedly stated, “I was told Epstein ‘belonged to intelligence’ and to leave it alone”—a claim that Dershowitz has flatly denied.

Dershowitz and Epstein

Fast forward to the nascent days of 2024, and unsealed court documents suggest Dershowitz had more than an attorney-client relationship with Epstein (file dump, p.128):

Based on the “Factual Background” section of the court documents, Dershowitz had engaged in sexual relations with a minor forced by Epstein. Dershowitz also witnessed the sexual abuse of other minors. Interestingly, the documents indicate that the 2008 plea deal (“NPA” or non-prosecution agreement) Dershowitz helped craft for Epstein also protected himself from scrutiny.

Murray’s Whitewash

Murray conveniently omitted any mention of these damning statements. Instead, he graciously handed over the stage to Dershowitz, who explained that the woman accusing him of misdeeds had admitted she “may” have confused him with someone else. Not one to stop at mere oversight, Murray steered the conversation towards the frequency of Bill Clinton’s name (“more than 50 times”), conveniently sidestepping the fact that Dershowitz himself was mentioned a whopping 137 times in the same document.

Murray did not press Dershowitz to explain the corroborating sworn testimonies of two other witnesses in the court documents. Nor did he highlight the fact that Epstein and three of his co-conspirators invoked Fifth Amendment rights to remain silent when asked whether Dershowitz was involved in the sexual abuse of young girls.

In short, Murray effectively whitewashed the controversy surrounding Dershowitz through omission and redirection.

Contrast this treatment with that of Claudine Gay, who resigned from her post at Harvard University following her responses to antisemitism on campus and subsequent attacks on her academic integrity. Murray teamed up, ironically, with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an established liar, to “roast” Gay on TalkTV before proceeding to continue the assault in the New York Post.

As it turns out, Murray and Dershowitz share organisational relationships of a blue-and-white hue.

Douglas-Dershowitz Connections

Murray’s association with Dershowitz stretches back to the 2000s through NGO Monitor.

As we noted previously, both Murray and Dershowitz are on the international advisory board of NGO Monitor, a Jerusalem-based neoconservative pro-Israel lobby group with connections to the Israeli government.

The neocon group was among the first to frame humanitarian NGOs as existential threats by arguing that holding Israel to account through legal mechanisms was a “form of terrorism.” Since humanitarian NGOs enabled these legal mechanisms by providing factual reports on Israeli crimes, they were part of a terrorism network and, hence, an existential threat to the “Jewish State of Israel.”[1]

According to a 2018 report published by the Policy Working Group (PWG—a collective of Israeli ex-diplomats, academics, and others), “NGO Monitor publicly boasts of close ties with the government and relies on the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate lobby meetings in European capitals, sometimes attending them along with Israeli diplomats.” It further adds:

“NGO Monitor plays a key role in providing Israeli ministries and diplomatic missions with misleading information to defame Israeli and Palestinian human rights organizations, and mobilizes the government to pressure European counterparts to stop funding them. In Israel, it acts as a catalyst for anti-democratic legislation that selectively targets such NGOs.” (source, p.6)

The organisation was founded under Dore Gold, a close affiliate of Netanyahu. Its founder and long-time president, Gerald Steinberg, worked for the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ibid., pp.6–7).

NGO Monitor attacks humanitarian charities and organisations in Palestine and the Western world that criticise Israel. As part of this attack, NGO Monitor has targeted funding streams in the UK, as demonstrated by a submission to the UK government.

The PWG report examining NGO Monitor’s output noted that its articles and reports contained “baseless claims and factual inaccuracies.” In 2014, Steinberg claimed that one of the EU’s main assistance programmes, the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), directed more resources to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict than to other conflict areas in the world. In response, the EU’s Ambassador to Israel qualified Steinberg’s publication as “a cocktail of tendentious research, intentional inaccuracies and downright EU-bashing propaganda” (source, p.7). The Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok noted in 2020 that NGO Monitor’s accusations are “based on selective citations, half-facts and insinuations, but not necessarily on hard evidence.”

We can see another Douglas-Dershowitz connection at the Gatestone Institute. As we have documented before, the Gatestone Institute hate hive is significant for its propagation of anti-Islam and Muslim conspiracy theories that have been adopted by far-right mass murderers.

Murray is Gatestone’s “Distinguished Senior Fellow,” while Dershowitz carries a slightly longer title as the “Jack Roth Charitable Foundation Fellow at Gatestone Institute.”

In 2016, the Gatestone Institute, in conjunction with the anti-Muslim neoconservative Henry Jackson Society (HJS—Murray was its associate director at the time) and the Conservative Friends of Israel, hosted a joint event in UK Parliament, where Murray appeared “In Conversation” with Dershowitz. In the same year, HJS director Alan Mendoza also hosted Dershowitz on the global Jewish TV channel J-TV to discuss how the left was becoming anti-Israel.

Concluding Remarks

Beneath Murray’s two-dimensional facial acrobatics in his pseudo-debate with Dershowitz lies a relationship spanning nearly two decades. The whole TalkTV charade was less a debate and more of a theatrical touch-up for a long-time neoconservative associate accused of abusing young girls.

Perhaps this connection is not much of a surprise. After all, Murray has been shining shoes for Israel with increasing enthusiasm since October 7^th, unleashing a torrent of vitriol against Muslims and Palestinians that represents the madness of Zionists. At the same time, Dershowitz, the “Israel defender,” has been handpicked by Netanyahu to shield the apartheid state against proceedings instituted by South Africa at the International Court of Justice.

Covering or deflecting crimes appears to be a common theme uniting Dershowitz and Murray.
