In a recent article of ours, “More Disturbing Biblical Verses Calling for Killing Babies,” we had quoted a common Jewish prayer that featured some very harsh words against Edom:
Remember, O Lord, against the Edomites the day of the destruction of Jerusalem, when they said, “Raze it, raze it to its very foundation!”
Now, many may—and quite understandably I might add—be a little perplexed by this. I mean, what exactly is the need to include Edom in a prayer that is still recited today, especially considering that Edom is supposedly an ancient kingdom with no real relevance to our current age?
Well, similar to Amalek, Edom has taken on an entirely new meaning for the rabbis, representing Rome and, by extension, the Western civilization and Christianity.
In an annotation to 12th century Kabbalist Ezra Ben Solomon’s commentary on the Song of Songs, Seth Brody makes the following general assessment:
“Rome” and “Edom” for the medieval Jews refer to Christendom, which they view as a continuation of the Roman empire.
Rabbi Michael Howald, in his article, “The Kings Who Reigned in the Land of Edom: A Kabbalistic Metaphor of the Primeval Worlds,” writes:
In the Hebrew Bible, Edom is associated with Esau, the first born son of Isaac and Rebecca, who preceded his twin brother Jacob in birth. In the midrash, Edom is also associated with the Roman Empire. In medieval kabbalistic texts, Edom is often used as a metaphor for Christianity.
[…]
“Esau,” “Edom,” and “Seir”—these are but the most common of a whole series of classical appellatives universally and unequivocally employed for imperial as well as medieval Rome, and in consequence for all of medieval Christendom.
Ibn Ezra, from 11th century Spain, one of the most influential Biblical commentators, notes in his commentary of Isaiah 63:1:
This prophecy contains the decree made against Edom, that is, against the empire of Rome and Constantinople, who are called Edomites, because they adopted the Edomite religion—that is, the Christian religion—which was first established among the Edomites.
Now, here’s the problem for the passionate proponents of a Judeo-Christian civilization: These prophecies about Edom, that is, the West and Christianity, are not very joyful or exuberant, as they foretell its ultimate destruction. Jews, you see, have held the “Romans” to be eternally responsible for destroying their Temple.

For example, we read in the Talmud (Berakhot 58:a):
And the glory; that is the sun and the moon that stood still for Joshua, as it is stated: “And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies” (Joshua 10:13);And the triumph; that is the downfall of Rome, and so it says describing the downfall of Edom, whom the Sages identified as the forefather of Rome.
Rashi, from 11th century France, one of the most influential Jewish commentators of both the Bible and the Talmud, writes in his commentary of Numbers 24:19:
והאביד שריד מעיר AND HE WILL DESTROY THE REMNANT OF THE CITY — the most important city of Edom, and that is Rome. It is of King Messiah that he is thus speaking, of whom it is said, (Psalms 72:8) “And he shall have dominion (וירד) from sea to sea”; (Obadiah v. 18) “And there shall be no remnant (שריד) of the house of Esau”.
Besides Numbers 24:19, there’s also another Biblical verse that is even more harsh towards the Edomites (that is, Westerners and Christians) which is quoted by Rashi here. It states that there shall not be a single survivor left among them. The verse in question is Obadiah 1:18, which reads:
The people of Israel will be a raging fire, and Edom a field of dry stubble. The descendants of Joseph will be a flame roaring across the field, devouring everything. There will be no survivors in Edom. I, the LORD, have spoken!

In fact, we could cite and present numerous callous and unsympathetic references to the complete and utter destruction of Edom as proposed by the rabbis.
For instance, in his commentary on Isaiah 63:3, Ibn Ezra, whom we’ve already mentioned, explicitly speaks regarding the destruction of not only Edom but also “its religion”:
This prophecy refers to the destruction of Edom, and the overthrow of the dominion of his religion.
The 16th century Italian rabbi, Ovadiah ben Jacob Sforno, writes in his commentary of Genesis 25:26:
ויקרא שמו יעקב. The word means he will remain at the heel, and the tail-end. This is based on the future mode of the word יעקב. Our sages (quoted by Rashi) say that the subject in our verse is G’d Who named Esau’s brother Yaakov, the reason for the unusual formulation being that after the destruction of the Kingdom of Edom and other nations, successor of Esau, only Yaakov and his descendants will remain. Our sages base all this on Jeremiah 46,28 אעשה כלה בכל הגויים…ואותך לא אעשה כלה, “I will make an end of all nations…but I will not make an end of you.”
Another 16th century Italian rabbi, Isaac Abarbanel, writes in his commentary of Obadiah 1:1:
The overarching theme of this prophecy is to tell about the future destruction of Edom and to explain that this nation which is called Edom started as a small nation and afterwards become rulers of the world. And that in the past, this nation already experienced may troubles but not a total destruction. But, in the days of the ingathering of the exiles, it will be destroyed and devastated completely and utterly because of it’s wickedness that it did to Israel during the time of the destruction of the first temple and the second temple and as a result of decrees that they decreed against the Jewish people throughout their rule over them during the exile. And that Israel will return and rule over their lands and their governments and in all the cities in the Negev and Gd will be the One Ruler as is explained in the pesukim.
It would appear that, despite having such a deep and entrenched “desire to see the complete and total destruction of the West,” the Jews are never the ones being portrayed in such a manner by the mainstream media.

Honestly I can’t blame the jucie to wanting see western Christian civilization be destroyed it has done nothing but caused endless wars and suffering and misery and genocides across the world . But unlike them I want western civilization to be conquered by the Muslims and it will be inshallah .
Soon In Shaa Allah
Well done. What I’ve come across after reading the commentary of Abarbanel on obadiah 1:1,in his fifth question, he said “…But in his book, Amos gave a contradictory message saying that the house of Jacob would inherit the leftover of Edom. This seems like there will be a leftover rom Edom that will be under the rule of Israel. How does this contradiction come if they are both the word of Gd.” This is thought provoking i must say.Do they have any timeline limitation or is it talking about-
until the end of times? If it is really about destroying Edom or christian world until the end of times, then they will try to destroy US too.How are christians still busy wasting our time? They should start to defend themselves from the jucie monster.
Christians have become too cucked after getting destroyed by the enlightenment and the French Revolution and the napolenic wars and scientific revolution and the world wars and the liberal and communist conquest of the world . They won’t be able to do much as they have already been destroyed within and they don’t seem to realize it . It’s going to be up to the Muslims to be the clean up crew and conquer what remains of the cucked west.
Very interesting article, I’ve heard Christian Critics of Judaism or Atheist/Agnostic Critics of the Abrahamic Religions speak on the Edom/Amalek/Rome connection to Christianity in Biblical Readings by Rabbis. Never a Muslim though. Are you familiar with Adam Green of Know More News by any chance?
