Dick Cheney Is Dead: His Legacy of Destruction for Muslims

For most of my adolescence, there wasn’t a living person I hated more than Dick Cheney.

When people (both Muslims and non-Muslims) look back on the 21st century, few figures will stand out as more destructive than Dick Cheney.

After 9/11, Cheney was the engine behind the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. These two wars together killed well over a million Muslims. The US spent more than $8 trillion on the “War on Terror,” displacing 38 million Muslims and leaving behind shattered Muslim societieis, ruled over by private militias, fueling a permanent refugee crisis.

But Cheney’s legacy isn’t measured only in body count. It is also measured in how he attacked Islam itself and how he turned conservative Islam itself into a security threat. Through the Bush administration’s framing of a “Global War on Terror,” devout or politically outspoken Muslims were recast as “potential radicals.” This lead to mosques being monitored and infiltrated by FBI informants. In New York, for example, entire neighborhoods were mapped by the NYPD’s secret “Demographics Unit,” which, as later admitted in court, produced zero terrorism leads. Conservative Islamic practices, like memorizing the Quran, attending Islamic lectures, wearing the hijab, or growing a long beard, became a mark of suspicion. This was the “radicalization theory” the US government developed and deployed as a tool against terrorism, basically a “pre-crime” logic that persecuted religious Muslim and stigmatized orthodox Islam more than it ever did to stop terrorism.

Domestically, Cheney orchestrated mass surveillance of Muslims via the Patriot Act, pushed through Congress in October 2001. It gave the government sweeping powers of surveillance and detention, which almost exclusively targeted Muslims, Muslim charities, and Muslim institutions. Secret courts and bulk data collection laid the groundwork for the NSA’s later mass-spying programs (PRISM, XKeyscore, and more) revealed a decade later by Edward Snowden. Companies like Palantir, born in the same era with CIA funding, turned these wartime tools into the backbone of modern policing and dissident repression, not only in the US, but in all the Muslim countries which bought those technologies to repress their Muslim populations.

Meanwhile, Cheney’s media strategy manufactured public consent for endless wars in the Middle East for Israel. The administration fed major media outlets selective “intelligence” tying Islam itself to terrorism. The result was widespread demonization of Muslims. Hate crimes against Muslims spiked by 1600% in 2001, according to the FBI, and anti-Muslim hate became a bipartisan issue. Only now, 24 years later, Americans know better that the terror attacks in the Cheney years were not the work of “radical Muslims” but Zionist false flags designed to hijack America. Cheney, working hand in hand with Zionist Jews, was instrumental in all of this.

Two decades after Cheney’s rule, Israel is on the cusp of wiping out Gaza in its overarching Greater Israel project. US drones still strike across Muslim countries. Surveillance technologies born in those years now police Muslim countries as well as Muslim populations in the West. And most damagingly, an entire generation of Muslims around the world was secularized because of the fear of practicing traditional Islam being associated with terrorism.

Unfortunately, Cheney was never held accountable in any worldly court for his crimes against Muslims and against humanity. But rest assured, he is being held accountable at this very moment, as he roasts in the grave, awaiting his final judgment.
